ABC: Olympic Torch is Contributing to Global Warming™

THIS is exactly what I am talking about when I say that the theory doesn't bother me near as much as the hype.
Angry protesters, riot police, mass demonstrations, arrests for disorderly conduct -- it hasn't exactly been smooth sailing for the Olympic-torch relay. If people are looking for another reason to be pissed at China, how about this: By the time this pyro parade is over, it will have produced about 11 million pounds of carbon emissions.

The torch is visiting 23 cities during a global sweep that includes stops in London, Paris, San Francisco, Bangkok, Islamabad and Almaty among others. The Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee says the journey will cover more than 85,000 miles.
Here is a tip for "journalists" who feel the need to use their writing skills and position in the media to advocate a political position:

Stories like these only reinforce the talking points of conservative pundits. Attributing every natural disaster to human Co2 emissions, as Democrat politicians are want to do, marginalizes your movement to the extent that only people that live in the Liberal echo chamber listen.

I think conservatives would take a more objective look at the science, if it were not for the rampant Liberal media bias, and the hypocrite left-wing politicians that drone endlessly on about "going green" at $1000 per plate fund raisers, then hop in their limo to the airport so they can take their private jet back to Washington, where they hold a press conference calling on we, the little people, to do our part by buying CF bulbs and car pooling. Then they go behind closed doors and discuss a tax on "Big Oil" to force the public to use less gas.

This discussion is mostly to make themselves feel better after dumping a few tons of carbon dioxide in the air. Last week their investment advisers reminded them that massive taxes on oil companies would cause them to take a significant loss in their investment portfolios.

In related news, a recent study by the ultra conservative right-wing University of Oregon suggested that the American public rates Climate Change low on their list of concerns.
