Yes, it is real (link to HuffPo, check out the comments). It was written by Dave Stewart and Bono.

Mrs. Ex found exactly the right adjective for that ad: pukey. We were able to watch only about 1/3 of that -- what is it? Certainly not a message, of any kind -- before shutting it off in disgust.
Of course, as atheists, we're just so in love with the whole concept of prayer. But holy shit, even for Jesus's supplicants, there's absolutely nothing substantive in that ad.
This is my American prayer: (1) that nobody will pay any attention to this piece of horseshit and (2) that Americans will stop praying.
This will certainly shut up critics that say he is running a cult hehe.
Can I have the 30 seconds of my life back that was wasted watching that?
Ugh!
I kinda liked it. Would have been MUCH better with Scarlett Johanson in it though. Still, we can't vote for people on the basis of things like this. It's so meaningless in the big picture. Let's remember the argument that easily trumps everything in this music video - John McCain was a war hero and a P.O.W.
I have to say that whoever decided to include Jason Alexander channeling Martin Luther King in this video is either a complete moron, or is a Karl Rove operative.
Maybe the link on Tommy's page is wrong or something, cause I think I saw a different movie than everyone here.
I've kind of been on the fence about this whole election thing coming up, but this ad really helped me to decide. I'm going to vote for Obama.
Mod,
Yeah, I understand your emotions. My feeling is: whatever Whoopi Goldberg says must be right. There's nothing in the ad to make me think that Obama actually stands for anything, but I have faith in the Whoopster.
Well, about 5:37 seconds was kind of difficult to watch, but I liked the part about the tank. That was pretty cool.
I think that this ad shows that Obama stands for tanks. Tanks and shitty music.
