Yet Another Encounter with the Global Warming™ Guy at Work
Last week, I posted a story about how a Global Warming zealot argued with me because I did not believe in Global Warming as he did.
Today, I was again outside smoking with my boss, when he came over and butted in on our conversation about the Democrat primaries today, and offered this:
“Hey Tommy, I know you don’t believe in Global Warming, but what do you think about that hurricane killing all those people in Asia?”
“A tragedy to be sure. I hope it isn’t as bad as they’re reporting,” I said.
His eyes were like lasers burning into me and he said, with a slight smirk, “So even after this, you still don’t believe in Global Warming?”
I’m a little pissed now. “Even after what? That the Northern Indian Ocean had a ‘hurricane?’ They don’t call them ‘hurricanes’ there, for your information, and May is one the two peaks in their tropical cyclone season which lasts all year, unlike in America, where the season only lasts six months, ”
“Yeah but it was like twenty times worse than Katrina,” he said with a dumbfounded look on his face.
“As far as death-toll, yeah it was far worse, but as far as strength and size at the time of landfall, it was very similar to Hurricane Dennis in 2005. Yet that storm killed less than 50 people. Why do you think that is?”
“Well because the ice caps melted and raised the sea level,” He said. (This isn’t a joke, he actually said that.)
“Yeah, by like one inch in the last hundred years. The storm surge was at least fifteen feet, and wiped out a bunch of over-populated bamboo shanty-towns five feet above sea level in a third-world coastal flood plain with no warning- because there is no modern communications there.”
“It’s just weird that we are seeing so many hurricanes killing people now,” he protested.
“Well, did Global Warming cause the 1970 Bhola Cyclone or the Haiphong Typhoon in the 19th century, which each killed more people in one country than the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami world wide? Do you even know what the name of yesterday’s storm was?”
“Hey I’m not trying to start a fight; I’m just saying that storms are killing more people now that the Earth is warming.”
My boss stood up at this point and all but dragged me away.

It's great that you have information to counter him with! Keep up the good work!
Here is some information to tell your 'friend' at the office!

You just don't get it. Global warming = more and stronger storms as well as being responsible for the recent increase in earthquakes throughout the world. As the earth heats up like everything else it begins to expand. This expansion is directly responsible for the recent increase in earthquakes throughout the world as well as for the eruption of the volcano in Chile. It is really basic science, you should take a class.
Dems are not the smartest creatures on God's earth!! LOL!!
(Yep... I'm 100% certain there is a D there) LOL
Well... I have at least as much evidence to support my point as he does his!
