Global Warming™ Strikes Again: Record Cold in Australia, Frost in the Deep South

I guess I'm gonna have to hold off on buying that future beach front property in Vermont. Record cold is being reported in Australia.
Temperatures across NSW will again plummet early on Wednesday, with meteorologists forecasting the mercury will drop even further than during Tuesday's record cold snap.

Between 6.11am (AEST) and 6.20am (AEST), Sydney recorded a temperature of 8.6 degrees celsius.

"In Sydney (that) was the coldest April night in 25 years and temperatures are going to be colder tonight," senior forecaster with The Weather Channel, Gavin Morris told AAP.

"We will probably break that record for Sydney tonight."
Even more disturbing, according to the National Weather Service, frost is expected tonight as far south as Statesboro, GA. 20 degrees below average here, but hey.

Bismarck, North Dakota, which will be a tropical rain forest by 2050, recorded a record low of 18 degrees on April 27.

Never forget.

"Uncle Tom" Obama

I didn't say it; Daily Kos, New Mainstream of the Democratic Party, did.
I just watched Barack throw someone who has been a huge part of his life overboard because a bunch of white-bread advisors told him he had to.

And why? Because white America was freaked out by a black preacher!

I thought Barack was going to lead us past that. I thought he was bigger than that. I thought he was different.

But NNNOOOOOOO! Now he is engaged in the worst kind of pandering. He has told us, in no uncertain terms, that he is no different than the Clintons: anyone who interferes with what you are doing gets thrown to the wolves.

And Barack didn't stop there. He threw every black man, woman and child overboard too! What Rev Wright has to say is what every black American believes: that racism is alive and well and living in white middle class America.

Unfortunately, Barack has decided that he doesn't need black votes to win. I'm sure he was told by his white advisors that "black folk" will support him anyway. So why not come out and disrespect the whole community. Barack didn't transcend black-white politics; rather he chose to become white!

All because some white folks on CNN were appalled that Rev Wright didn't shuffle in and say "yes massa".

First Line Meme

This is pretty fun little thing, shamelessly stolen from OG:

Step 1: Put your MP3 player or whatever on random.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 25 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing the song.
Step 3: Post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: Strike through when someone gets them right. I'll put it in italics if the title has been gotten, but not the artist.
Step 5: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING.
  1. Oh the shark has, pretty teeth, dear
  2. They call me Flava, flavaistic-magistic
  3. He said he tried just a little bit
  4. Cash rules every thing around me
  5. Hard to be
  6. Reluctantly crouched at the starting line
  7. I want to keep my money
  8. "I'm running in quicksand"
  9. Well I'm Eazy-E I got bitches galore
  10. You make me feel so young
  11. Ladies first, who the fuck made up that shit
  12. Nineteen-eighty-nine, another, another summer
  13. Fuck the police coming straight from the underground

Teenage Fan Club & De La Soul- Fallin'

How is it that the coolest song, from one of the coolest movies, can have such a shitty video?

Judgment Night is one of the best films ever made, and this is the best they could come up with? I'm not in favor of capital punishment, but whoever produced this needs to shot.

In 1992, one year before Judgment Night was released, a low-budget film starring Lawrence Fishburne- Deep Cover hit the theaters, and was made popular mostly because of the title track of the same name.

Watch this classic video:

This song became a gangsta rap anthem, and propelled Snoop Dog and Dr. Dre to superstardom.

You don't see a bunch of brats prancing around clouds wearing angel wings, and you do not see a wannabe Speech trying to teach a class.

Deep Cover is about a bunch of hard-core bangin' muthafuckaz, and you get a video about a bunch if hard-core bangin' muthafuckaz.

Why couldn't the fag that produced the Fallin' video understand the context of the seminal song of the movie, and produce an appropriate video? Seriously, I'm surprised that Dennis Leary or Cuba Gooding didn't smoke somebody over this.

When Somebody Makes a Clever, Original Video, Don't Try to Copy It

Dear Internet:

About seven months ago, a couple of girls calling themselves 'Daft Bodies' created an amusing, creative, original and somewhat titillating video using the Daft Punk song 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger' that has so far been viewed nearly 3.5 million times:

Since then, there have been several copycats trying to recreate the original, thinking they were being cute and/or funny. Like this one:

Some have claimed that these are the same two girls, but I don't think so. Jeebus, the one in the blue panties is so drunk and horny that she would probably fuck a snake if the other one held it straight for her.

Then there is this one:

Nice job, but y'all are a bit too eh... rubenesque for this. Nice outfits though.

The white trash version:

Stripper version:

Nice TMNT poster.

Obligatory Major Payne pwnage

Yeah I know it's fun to get drunk, strip down to your panties, write words on your thighs and dance around, shaking your ass at the camera, but it's been done. And better.

One of the most underrated movies of all time, in my opinion, is Last Action Hero. I mean come on:

As somebody who grew up with Terminator, Commando, Lethal Weapon, 48 Hours, Beverly Hills Cop, Tango and Cash, etc., I think it's a brilliant spoof of the 80's action genre.

"I just so much wanted to be with you but I have to do this thing for our future and it will be for the best, inshallah, in the long run. That's the most important thing.

"You make plenty of Dua (special prayer) for you guys and you've got loads of people to look after you and keep and eye on you. My Recent Personal Encounter With A Global Warming™ Acolyte

Tuesday morning, I was outside smoking a cigarette with my boss, and a guy that routinely butts in on our conversations in order to ingratiate himself "overheard" us talking about the damage that Monday's hail storm did to the tulips out side of the office, and offered his two cents:

"Wow, last week we had frost, and now we got two hail storms in a week! This weather is so weird, but I guess that's what we get for burning up all the oil and coal, and putting it in the atmosphere,"

Last Friday, there was a hail storm that briefly covered the ground in pea to penny-sized hail.

Now for an enthusiast without a formal degree, I think I have a very good understanding of meteorology, to the point where I can accurately analyze skew-t data, maps, radar, etc.

In the office, I am know as 'The Weatherman'.

My boss knows how I feel about the GW hype, and she just kinda pursed her lips in a semi-smirk and looked away, trying not to laugh. She knew what I was thinking, even if she doesn't agree with me.

I looked at the guy and tried to explain that hail events in the Midwest during the spring, especially the early spring, were not unusual, but expected and common. And this had nothing to do with greenhouse gases or Global Warming.

He looked at me and cocked his head with an open-mouthed, raised-eyebrow expression and said, "You don't believe in Global Warming?"

I try to be reasonable: "Believe in Global Warming? I'm trying to tell you that these spring hail storms happen all the time here in the Midwest, and have since before the Asians settled here over 15,000 years ago. You may only experience a few severe weather events per year, even in Kansas City. And yes, when they happen, it's pretty intense, and considering how localized this sort of thing is, yeah it might seem "weird" to an observer. But it didn't happen because of Global Warming."

He replied, "So, you don't think that Carbon from people is causing the Earth to warm and causes more extreme weather?" He's still looking at me like a misbehaving child.

"I didn't say that, I said that you can't attribute a couple of hail storms, which are common this time of year, to Global Warming because they seem strange to you."

"So you don't believe in Global Warming," he replied.

Exasperated, hung-over, and not a little pissed-off at this point, I raised my voice and said, "No goddammit, I don't fucking believe in fucking Global Warming! And I still wont fucking believe in Global Warming this week when severe storms cause flooding, and drop hail and tornadoes in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and Nebraska!" It's the fucking goddamn spring in the Midwest!"

"Okay, okay, sorry man! It's just hard to believe that somebody that knows that much about weather doesn't believe in Global Warming."

This conversation really happened. Seriously, it did.

Idiocracy Watch: MLB Bans All Bottled Drinks In Dugouts Except Gatorade

On the heels of the three Presidential candidates participating in an event for the WWE,

comes this gem from Major League Baseball.
Two signs on the doors leading from the visitors' clubhouse at U.S. Cellular Field to the first-base dugout read, "NO BOTTLED WATER ON THE BENCH."

What's this? Athletes can't drink water? Even in the humid Chicago summers?

Here's the explanation I got:

Gatorade is Major League Baseball's "official sports drink." So instructions were sent that no player could be seen drinking anything but Gatorade in the dugout. Not even Aquafina, which is the "official water" of MLB. Not even bottles of water with the labels removed.
Its got electrolytes!

Kansas Legalizes Machine Guns, Silencers, and Sawed-Offs

This is so metal! Just in time for the 4th!
Kansans will be able to own machine guns, other fully automatic weapons, sawed-off shotguns and silencers starting July 1.Gov.

Kathleen Sebelius signed a bill Monday to legalize the possession of such weapons. The state banned owning machine guns in 1933, but some legislators said a change was necessary because legal questions threaten to keep dealers from delivering weapons to law enforcement agencies.

Supporters believe the bill will benefit mostly collectors because machine guns typically cost at least $20,000. Also, anyone wanting to own such weapons must undergo two federal background checks.

"I can't even afford them," said Sen. Phil Journey, a Haysville Republican who is a strong gun-rights advocate and championed the bill. "There may be some very happy collectors who have significant disposable income."

The bill had bipartisan support among legislators and passed both chambers with more than the two-thirds majorities necessary to override a veto.

UK: Mediums, Psychics And Healers May Face Prosecution If They Cannot Justify Their Claims

From the BBC.
Whether it's TS Eliot or Shirley Ghostman, the world of the medium has been gently drizzled with ridicule for some decades.

But now psychics, healers and spiritualists fear a new threat. Not gentle ribbing, but the long arm of the law.

Parliament is about to debate measures that will see all forms of paid-for paranormal activities fall under the new Consumer Protection Regulations. As well as tackling a raft of more mundane commercial sharp practice, these regulations will also replace the Fraudulent Mediums Act 1951.

And some mediums are not happy. Under the old legislation, it had to be proven that any accused psychic was setting out to commit a fraud. The first case was a man in 1952 on a charge that he did in "purporting to act as a spiritualistic medium, unlawfully use a certain fraudulent device, namely, a length of cheesecloth". He was acquitted, setting a pattern for the last 50 years of very few prosecutions.

Under the new laws, some mediums feel they will be obliged to prove what they do. And when you're in the business of contacting spirits in the afterlife, that's not easy.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. While this looks like typical nanny-state legislation that has become commonplace in Britain, at the same time I can see their point, as this would only cover "paid-for" services. If this passes, it seems like it would effectively put an end to these businesses.

The Neo-Nazi 'Wikipedia'

I don't know why it surprises me that this site (click at your own risk) exists, but it does.

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with these people?

When you visit the site, it looks innocent enough at first...
Metapedia is an electronic encyclopedia about culture, art, science, philosophy and politics.

The word 'Metapedia' is derived from two concepts from classical greek: 'meta' that means 'outside' or 'beyond'; and 'enkyklios paideia' that means 'encyclopedia'. The name has a dual symbolic meaning:

* Metapedia sets its focus on topics that usually are not covered in — i.e. that falls outside of — mainstream encyclopedias.

* Metapedia has a metapolitical purpose, to influence the mainstream debate, culture and historical view.

The project is still in its early stages, but the database is growing every day and you are heartily welcome to contribute to the growth of this valuable and unique encyclopedia.
But you are a click away from such gems as this in depth entry about 'Negroids' , complete with a physical description:
"The Negro is known to have a broad, flat nose, thick protruding lips and a grotesque, anthropoid physiological structure."
And this enlightening article on race, with a world map showing intelligence by race, and a 4-panel picture that ranks people of different races from highest to lowest.

'Mongoloids' are second only to whites in superiority, but:
"While the Native Americans are the lowest of the Mongols and regularly practiced both cannibalism and human sacrifice, the inhabiants[sic] of Asia, having a higher intellect due to a greater infusion of White blood (likely through mixing with tribes such as the Tolcharians) nevertheless reserve their cruelty."
What about the Jews?
"It is believed by some that the Jewish religion led in the past to the murder of Gentile children in order to used their blood for ritual dinners."
And what of the Caucasians?
"The civilizations formed from this race are responsible for nearly all artistic and technological achievements. However, its continued existence is threatened by mass non-white immigration into White areas, low birth-rates and miscegenation"
I see.

I think what boggles my mind the most is the dozens if not hundreds of hours of effort that these morons had put in to create this disgusting wiki.

Hurray For Multiculturalism!

Brits fear race violence will erupt
ALMOST two out of three Britons fear race tensions could spill over into violence and half the population want immigrants to be encouraged to leave, a new poll shows.

In a country where the last serious race riots erupted seven years ago between white and Asian youths, the head of Britain's equality watchdog called the poll findings "alarming''.

"What worries me is if that friction starts to catch fire - if people genuinely believe it's going to catch fire - then we're in trouble,'' Equality and Human Rights Commission head Trevor Phillips said.

Of the 1000 people sounded out by Mori pollsters for the BBC, 60 per cent said Britain had too many immigrants.

A quarter of those polled said their area did not feel like Britain any more because of immigration.
Why are people like myself, who call for the integration and assimilation of immigrants, now considered 'racists'? If you want to immigrate to a foreign land to make a better life for you and your family, you have to be willing to set aside your old culture and adapt to the new one. That's part of the deal. And there's no reason why you have to abandon the traditional ways of your people, while at the same time adhering to the laws and adopting the culture of your new country.

Brit Father & Son Denied Access To Public Pool For Being Infidels

No word yet on if a 'Christians Only' pool day will be forthcoming in Saudi Arabia or Pakistan.

From the Daily Mail:
A father and his five-year-old son were turned away from their local swimming pool because they were the wrong religion.

David Toube, 39, and his son Harry were told that the Sunday morning session was reserved for Muslim men only.

Hackney Council, which runs the Clissold Leisure Centre in Stoke Newington, north London, claimed staff there had made a mistake.

However, the Muslim-only session was advertised on its website.

Mr Toube, a corporate lawyer, described his experiences on a blog.

"I arrived at the pool to discover that they were holding what staff described to me as "Muslim men only swimming"," he wrote.

"I asked whether my son and I could go as we were both male. I was told that the session was for Muslims only and that we could not be admitted. I asked what would happen if I turned up and insisted I was Muslim.

"The manager suggested that they might ask the Muslims swimming if they minded my son and I swimming with them. If they didn't object, we might be allowed in."

A few days later, Mr Toube, who lives with his wife, 38-year-old barrister Samantha, and their two sons in Stoke Newington, North London, spoke to another leisure centre employee.

"He gave me an identical story. His explanation was that it was a requirement of the Muslim religion that Muslims could not swim with non-Muslims."

EU Church of Global Warming™ Demands United States Airlines Pay Carbon Credits Indulgences

While Islamist thugs run amok all over Western Europe virtually unopposed, the delusional Liberal socialists that run these nations have decided to crack down on one of the biggest threats to the safety of the entire planet: The United States Airline Industry!
Under their plan, airlines will be allocated carbon credits that they use to "pay" for their CO2 emissions on an annual basis. Airlines that come in under their quota will end the year with extra credits which they can then sell on the carbon market. And they'll have plenty of buyers -- pollution spewing airlines that exceed their yearly allowance will need to buy additional credits. This, in a nutshell, is how carbon trading works.

European airlines aren't exactly doing cartwheels over the plan, though with carbon trading a key part of the Continent's environmental strategy, they must have seen it coming. But non-European carriers say it's unfair and potentially illegal that the scheme is being imposed on any airline flying into or out of the EU.

The US airlines aren't having it. They say the Europeans are being hysterical and that forced participation in their carbon trading plan violates international treaties. The Air Transport Association, the trade group for US carriers, calls the European's focus on aviation emissions "out of proportion" and believes that the US industry is having success with market driven approaches like buying more fuel-efficient aircraft, reducing the weight of their planes, and investigating alternative fuels.
You see, instead of facing their own problems and facing their own hypocrisy, it's far easier to play victim and blame the USA, which thanks to the inept Bush Administration, has become a convenient target for all the worlds woes. People from the third world are still beating down our doors to live here, though. Go figure.

As Jammie Wearing Fool pointed out today, the whole point of the Global Warming hype is less about saving the Earth and humanity, and more about wealth redistribution and a centralized (i.e. socialist) global economy.
  • China, now the worlds #1 CO2 emitter and worlds worst environmental polluter, gets a pass.
  • Brazil is chopping down hundreds of thousands of the Amazon Rain Forest per year, the so-called "lungs of the world", they gets a pass.
  • The Muslim billionaires of the Middle East whom live in air-conditioned opulent palaces and build gigantic buildings in a region where 120 degree heat is not unusual, and also gallivant around the world in private jets and yachts the size of cruise liners, which was paid for by petrodollars... They get a pass too.
I could go on for pages and pages.

This whole situation reminds of a chapter in Bernard Goldberg's Bias, where he writes about how the Liberals in the media distorted the facts of the AIDS epidemic in the 80's in order to push an agenda.

The Liberal media saw the AIDS crisis as an opportunity to finally unite the world in a common cause, to fight a global plague that threatened all of humanity. The problem was that the demographics of Americans infected with HIV was decidedly politically incorrect, as they were (and still are) mostly African-Americans, homosexuals, the homeless, immigrants, and IV drug users. The solution was to ignore the facts, and only tell the tales of heterosexual White suburban Americans who were infected. This way, the majority of the population would rise to do something before AIDS rampaged across Suburbia, USA.

We all watched the TV movie about Ryan White.

The same thing is happening today. While AIDS has taken a backseat, the Libs realize that Global Warming is now the ULTIMATE threat to all of humanity, and therefore this can finally unite the entire world in a common cause, and end all war and strife. We are all at risk. We must take collective action, and unite, or die. However it's up to "The West" to curb it's carbon emissions and save the world, because it's unfair to ask "developing nations" to curtail their CO2 output when we have so much money, even though we have already dumped trillions of dollars of aid to help them develop.

The only thing better for them would be a gigantic asteroid about to hit Earth, preferably in the Midwest of the United States, where all the Republicans live. THEN the right-wing fascists would finally realize that they are part of a global community, and then we could unite the world in a common cause...

Maine Passes Thought-Crime Law?

I hope I'm too buzzed to read this correctly, but it appears that Maine has passed a law where an adult that looks a kid in public can now be charged with a felony...
Those who peer at children in public could find themselves on the wrong side of the law in Maine soon.

A bill that passed the House last month aims to strengthen the crime of visual sexual aggression against children, according to state Rep. Dawn Hill, D-York.

Her involvement started when Ogunquit Police Lt. David Alexander was called to a local beach to deal with a man who appeared to be observing children entering the community bathrooms. Because the state statute prevents arrests for visual sexual aggression of a child in a public place, Alexander said he and his fellow officer could only ask the man to move along.

"There was no violation of law that we could enforce. There was nothing we could charge him with," Alexander said.

He attended a talk with Hill a week later and brought the case to her attention. Hill pledged to do what she could, Alexander said, and the result was a change through the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee in the House, which made the law applicable in both private and public places.

Alexander said he's grateful Hill was willing to take up the cause, and is hopeful the measure will clear the Senate.

"I'll be pleased that we were able to identify this flaw and take steps to rectify it," he said.

Under the bill, if someone is arrested for viewing children in a public place, it would be a Class D felony if the child is between 12 to 14 years old and a Class C felony if the child is under 12, according to Alexander.

Hill said she believes the move was necessary to correct what she called a "loophole" in the state's criminal law statutes.

"I told Lt. Alexander that I would be happy to work with him and sponsor a bill that would correct this in the 2008 session," Hill said. "And so we did."

In arguing for the bill, Alexander said she cited public rest rooms as places where the people using them should have a reasonable expectation of privacy. She said the committee determined that there would not be any major side effects from expanding the statute to include public places.
And of course it was a Liberal Democrat that was behind this.

Well the problem here... You see, this is typical, eh..uh, Hmm. But, she has read... heh. What the FUCK?!
NEW YORK (AP) — There's another side to Alicia Keys: conspiracy theorist. The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter tells Blender magazine: "`Gangsta rap' was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. `Gangsta rap' didn't exist."

Keys, 27, said she's read several Black Panther autobiographies and wears a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck "to symbolize strength, power and killing 'em dead," according to an interview in the magazine's May issue, on newsstands Tuesday.

Another of her theories: That the bicoastal feud between slain rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. was fueled "by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing."

Keys' AK-47 jewelry came as a surprise to her mother, who is quoted as telling Blender: "She wears what? That doesn't sound like Alicia." Keys' publicist, Theola Borden, said Keys was on vacation and unavailable for comment.

Though she's known for her romantic tunes, she told Blender that she wants to write more political songs. If black leaders such as the late Black Panther Huey Newton "had the outlets our musicians have today, it'd be global. I have to figure out a way to do it myself," she said.

The multiplatinum songstress behind the hits "Fallin'" and "No One" most recently had success with her latest CD, "As I Am," which sold millions.

Idiocracy Watch: So Much for the Information Age

A facepalm worthy op-ed from Ted Gup at the Houston Chronicle:
Nearly half of a recent class could not name a single country that bordered Israel. In an introductory journalism class, 11 of 18 students could not name what country Kabul was in, although we have been at war there for half a decade. Last fall only one in 21 students could name the U.S. secretary of defense. Given a list of four countries — China, Cuba, India, and Japan — not one of those same 21 students could identify India and Japan as democracies. Their grasp of history was little better. The question of when the Civil War was fought invited an array of responses — half a dozen were off by a decade or more. Some students thought that Islam was the principal religion of South America, that Roe v. Wade was about slavery, that 50 justices sit on the U.S. Supreme Court, that the atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima in 1975. You get the picture, and it isn't pretty.
These were college students, BTW.

Filthy Hippies in Denver Plan Nude Protest, Orgy

Posted on Jawa Report.

According to the Fox affiliate in Denver, a group of hippies is planning a 60's-style protest when the Democrats hold their convention.
"From this point forward, Civic Center Park will be considered the property of the people, and it will thus be renamed Free City," said Glenn Spagnuolo, spokesman for Recreate 68, which is coordinating protest efforts with a variety of activist groups for the Democratic National Convention week.

"We're here today to formally reject societies and governments that celebrate greed and consumption," said Spagnuolo. "We reject a society that represses its own members and others and destroys its environment for profit.

"We reject a government that was built upon, and continues to commit, genocide. And we feel that both parties that are currently running this country are guilty of the continuation of these problems."
Heh. Hippies.
"Free City is also free of borders," said Zoe Williams, a member of a group called Colorado Street Medics. "We welcome all people as immigrants, largely, to this country to be a part of Free City."

Adam Jung, representing the group Tent State, added, "Free City is also going to free for political thought, free of commercialism, free of cages and prisons for political prisoners.

"And yes, one of the most fun ones, there will be free love - as long as it's consensual."
So If I show up and start passing out Michael Savage books, you guys will be perfectly fine with what I am doing, right? After all, your zone is for free political thought.

I bet I could get action from the drug-sodded hippie chicks who would try to 'convert' me, hehe.

Meet the Newest Member of the Vast Right Wing Conspiricy... Jon Stewart?

Apparently, the tolerant "progressives" who rationally discuss political issues and reasonably agree to disagree with heretics of the Liberal orthodoxy over at the leftist hate-site, The Huffington Post, have taken umbrage at some of Jon Stewart's recent comedic cracking on Obama.
Last night on "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart unveiled a new feature: The "Dick Move of the Week" (presumably a recurring segment). "As the race wears on, you're going to start to see the campaigns behaving a little bit more aggressively, trying to score points on the other guy," said Stewart. "But there is a very fine line between an aggressive move and what Beltway insiders refer to as — a bit of a dick move."

Below is a preview of the HuffPo comments. Many defend Stewart, and tell the rest to lighten up, but others...
"Jon needs a long Iraq occupation to justify his early Bush support."
"I have noticed that since their return, there have been a succession of right wing guests. It could just be my perception, but it seems that sinse lynn cheney was on there has been a subtle shift that solidified during the strike."

"I used to enjoy watching Jon Stewart, but find that he has lost his comedic edge. His remarks about the politician du jour are timid, and uninteresting. He now seems afraid to rock anyone"s boat. The show"s format has become old, relying too much on common, vulgar words to get a laugh further points to a dearth of inspiration."

"This looks like the beginning of Mr. Stewart becoming irrelevant.
Which is a good thing."

"Jon Stewart is usually funny, but the whole dick joke thing is sophmoric to the point of idiocy."

"Jon Stewart is another brainless media twit who's fallen in love with John McCain."

ABC: Olympic Torch is Contributing to Global Warming™

THIS is exactly what I am talking about when I say that the theory doesn't bother me near as much as the hype.
Angry protesters, riot police, mass demonstrations, arrests for disorderly conduct -- it hasn't exactly been smooth sailing for the Olympic-torch relay. If people are looking for another reason to be pissed at China, how about this: By the time this pyro parade is over, it will have produced about 11 million pounds of carbon emissions.

The torch is visiting 23 cities during a global sweep that includes stops in London, Paris, San Francisco, Bangkok, Islamabad and Almaty among others. The Beijing Olympics Organizing Committee says the journey will cover more than 85,000 miles.
Here is a tip for "journalists" who feel the need to use their writing skills and position in the media to advocate a political position:

Stories like these only reinforce the talking points of conservative pundits. Attributing every natural disaster to human Co2 emissions, as Democrat politicians are want to do, marginalizes your movement to the extent that only people that live in the Liberal echo chamber listen.

I think conservatives would take a more objective look at the science, if it were not for the rampant Liberal media bias, and the hypocrite left-wing politicians that drone endlessly on about "going green" at $1000 per plate fund raisers, then hop in their limo to the airport so they can take their private jet back to Washington, where they hold a press conference calling on we, the little people, to do our part by buying CF bulbs and car pooling. Then they go behind closed doors and discuss a tax on "Big Oil" to force the public to use less gas.

This discussion is mostly to make themselves feel better after dumping a few tons of carbon dioxide in the air. Last week their investment advisers reminded them that massive taxes on oil companies would cause them to take a significant loss in their investment portfolios.

In related news, a recent study by the ultra conservative right-wing University of Oregon suggested that the American public rates Climate Change low on their list of concerns.

CNN's Christiane Amanpour: Bush Administration = Khmer Rouge

Via LGF.
PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (CNN)— A recently disclosed memo gave U.S. interrogators the ability to use harsh methods — what many call “torture” — to extract information from terrorist suspects after 9/11. Around the world, critics saw it as another blow to American prestige and moral authority.

The 2003 document also invokes wartime powers to protect interrogators who violate the Geneva Conventions, for example, by the use of waterboarding — when a prisoner is made to think he is drowning.

Half a world away, the divisive debate over whether waterboarding constitutes torture comes into sharp relief at the infamous S-21, Tuol Sleng Prison in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

This is where the genocidal regime of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge imprisoned and brutalized its enemies from 1975 to 1979. I visited the once secret S-21, now a museum, with Van Nath, a former inmate. ...

So when Pol Pot finally fell in 1979, Van Nath returned to paint what he had really seen and heard at S-21. He did it as a memorial to the 14,000 who had been tortured and executed in the prison. It’s one of the few public reminders of the regime’s crimes.

Take water torture, for instance. Van Nath remembers it as if it were yesterday. I gasped as I entered a room filled with his vivid depictions.

One of his paintings shows a prisoner blindfolded and hoisted onto a makeshift scaffold by two guards. He is then lowered head first into a massive barrel of water. Another shows a prisoner with cloth over his face, writhing as an interrogator pours water over his head.

Van Nath still remembers the accompanying screams: “It sounded like when we are really in pain, choking in water,” he told me. “The sound was screaming, from the throat. I suppose they could not bear the torture. Whenever we heard the noises we were really shocked and scared. We thought one day they will do the same thing to us.”

As he talked and showed me around, my mind raced to the debate in the United States over this same tactic used on its prisoners nearly 40 years later. I stared blankly at another of Van Nath’s paintings. This time a prisoner is submerged in a life-size box full of water, handcuffed to the side so he cannot escape or raise his head to breathe. His interrogators, arrayed around him, are demanding information.

I asked Van Nath whether he had heard this was once used on America’s terrorist suspects. He nodded his head. “It’s not right,” he said.

But I pressed him: Is it torture? “Yes,” he said quietly, “it is severe torture. We could try it and see how we would react if we are choking under water for just two minutes. It is very serious.”

Back then, Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge cadres recognized this for what it was and used it with brutal efficiency. The Cambodian genocide ultimately killed 2 million people.

Telegraph' s Andrew O'Hagan: Desecration of Muslim Tombstones = 7/7 Bombings

I had to reload this page from The Telegraph a few times just to make sure that I wasn't reading something from The Onion.

Fear of Islam is ruining our chance for peace
The wish genuinely to address political ills in this country is often stymied by a need people have to cling either to what is Right or what is Left. You see it at work every day, the instinct to turn with the shoal of mackerel or the flock of starlings, without a moment's pause to examine what is really at issue.

Our politicians do this as a matter of course, but so does the public and so very often do the media, wishing life's complicated circumstances to conform immediately to the expectations which are born of our own prejudices. But sometimes we must go against the grain of what we think in order to do some thinking.

Islamophobia is one of the big questions of our day, and one, perhaps more than most, which causes each of us to dig in to our entrenched positions. The problem is answered most often with ignorance or with common hysteria, and almost never with fresh thinking. What is the nature of the feeling in our communities and in our courts against Islam, and how can we put an end to it? Are we not hurting our own society and our own security by making a monster where it shouldn't exist, a monster made from the mania of our own fear?
Where do I begin? Anywhere? Somebody that is so out of touch with reality that they would even start to write something like this... I might as well comment on the scribblings of a kindergartener.
Over the weekend, 148 graves were desecrated in the Muslim section of a military cemetery near Arras in northern France. In an act that might appear to open a new chapter in Europe's hateful treatment of feared minorities, the vandals sprayed swastikas and other Nazi insignia on the graves of dead servicemen. (Jewish communities will recognise the obscenity.) "This is a most unacceptable act of racism and the president shares the pain of France's Muslim community," said a spokesman for President Nicolas Sarkozy.

France has a population of five million Muslims, Britain has two million, and each nation has, over many years, pursued policies which have resulted in those communities being more isolated, more discredited, and more radicalised than any other, and in consequence we have begun to work not only against their interests but against our own. We are making extremists where they previously hardly existed; this might be termed a suicidal policy.
More of this shit. I think one of the main problems with this op-ed is that the writer is so far to the left, he probably considers the current center-left British government to be one step away from the Norse Fire party in V for Vendetta.

England has a Liberal policy of appeasing Muslims, so hell maybe this guy is inadvertently making our point! Since Liberalism has done nothing to stem the tide of Islamic extremism in the UK, maybe, just maybe the limeys should try a new approach?

Apocalyptica - Master of Puppets Live

Rest In Peace, Mr. Heston

Legendary actor and civil rights activist Charlton Heston dies at the age of 84. Story from the AP.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Charlton Heston, who won the 1959 best actor Oscar as the chariot-racing "Ben-Hur" and portrayed Moses, Michelangelo, El Cid and other heroic figures in movie epics of the '50s and '60s, has died. He was 84.

The actor died Saturday night at his home in Beverly Hills with his wife Lydia at his side, family spokesman Bill Powers said.

Powers declined to comment on the cause of death or provide further details.

"Charlton Heston was seen by the world as larger than life. He was known for his chiseled jaw, broad shoulders and resonating voice, and, of course, for the roles he played," Heston's family said in a statement. "No one could ask for a fuller life than his. No man could have given more to his family, to his profession, and to his country."

MSNBC: Men Are Slobs And Oppress Women

I was wondering when the latest "men are slovenly oppressors, keeping a sister down" article from the MSM would be published, and it turns out it was today. According to this article published by MSNBC, a study showed that:
  • Husbands create 7 extra hours of housework per week
  • Female home keeping is down 35% since 1976
  • Male home keeping is up 100% since 1976
  • Blah Blah Blah
The most shocking fact was that a women with three children spent more time cooking and cleaning than a single woman with no kids!1!11!eleven!! Oh, the Liberal horror!

Maybe I am being overly sensitive in this case. Lets take a critical look at this.
Having a husband creates an extra seven hours of housework each week for women, according to a new study. For men, tying the knot saves an hour of weekly chores.

"It's a well-known pattern," said lead researcher Frank Stafford, an economist at University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research. "Men tend to work more outside the home, while women take on more of the household labor."
By golly this IS a well known pattern! It's been happening for at least 1,000,000 years. The men go out and secure the food, shelter, materials, sundries, and protects his brood, while the woman cares for the children, cooks the meals, makes the clothes, and cleans the cave/hut/tepee/duplex. This brings up yet another Liberal Quandary.

In the western world, women are liberated, and can pursue a career, make millions, become a mogul, and even become the leader of a nation. Yet in the third world, women are generally treated like second class citizens, breeding stock, animals, or worse. What's a progressive to do? All races are superior to Caucasians, all economic systems are superior to capitalism, women are superior to men, all religions or atheism are superior to Christianity... and yet...but... "ARRRRG! Give me another Zoloft and pass the blunt! 9/11 Was an inside job!!!"

To continue:
He points out individual differences among households exist. But in general, marriage means more housework for women and less for men. "And the situation gets worse for women when they have children," Stafford said.

Overall, times are a' changing in the American home. In 1976, women busied themselves with 26 weekly hours of sweeping-and-dusting work, compared with 17 hours in 2005. Men are pitching in more, more than doubling their housework hours from six in 1976 to 13 in 2005.
So housework is down 35% for women, and up 100% for men. Over all, women now perform 67% of the housework, compared to 81% 1976. And men are still culturally expected to be the main if not sole breadwinners.
Stafford analyzed time-diaries and questionnaires from a nationally representative sample of men and women over a 10-year period between 1996 and 2005. The federally-funded Liberal pork-barrel study showed that, compared with the single life, marriage meant more housework for both men and women.

"Marriage is no longer a man's path to less housework," Stafford said.

Single women in their 20s and 30s did the least housework, about 12 weekly hours, while married women in their 60s and 70s did the most — about 21 hours a week. Men showed a somewhat different pattern, with older men picking up the broom more often than younger men. Single guys worked the hardest around the house, trumping all age groups of married men. [WTF?!?!-ed]

Having kids boosts house chores even further. With more than three kids, for instance, wives took on more of the extra work, clocking about 28 hours a week compared with husbands' 10 hours.
I think the rest reads for itself.

-Tommy
